INTRODUCTION

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences is the most important in India. There is a group of autonomous universities that are running under AIIMS Delhi. The universities were introduced for higher education in medical fields, under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The AIIMS Delhi was established in 1956 under the administration of Jawaharlal Nehru. After that 24 more AIIMS were announced. The institute is the most prestigious among the medical colleges and the education system is top-class. AIIMS was created to focus on higher studies in the medical field along with a top-quality research center, but the institute also provides top-class medical facilities to all classes of people.  MBBA is a basic graduate degree in AIIMS, which is followed by a master’s degree, and after that, there are super specialization courses for students who want to be experts in specific fields. 

 

Professionals with super specialty degrees can work in fields such as cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, rheumatology, neurology, and pediatric neurology. Other than that the institution also offers M.sc and PhD level research courses. AIIMS is known for its cutting-edge research facilities, along with an expert faculty to train future medical professionals, because of which the institute is providing top-notch healthcare facilities to a bigger population. There are more than 40  specialized courses, and the entrance exam is AIIMS PG held every six months, the exam is one of the toughest exams in India only >1% get admission. For bachelor-level courses like MBBS, the entrance exam is NEET, as per the recent notification by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. AIIMS is known for its contribution to the medical field worldwide, in the beginning, the institute was made with the help of the Soviet Union. AIIMS is also one of the top institutes worldwide.  

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR AIIMS

The eligibility criteria for AIIMS is:

  • For taking admission to MBBS courses in AIIMS students have to pass the NEET exam conducted by NTA.
  • For NEET examination the eligibility criteria are simple.
  • Students must have passed their 12th exam from a respected board.
  • Students must have scored 50% in their 12th exam.
  • The minimum age of the student must be 17 years.
  • Based on NEET-UG score students are shortlisted for AIIMS counseling.
  • For advanced-level courses students must appear for the AIIMS PG exam.
  • Students must be Indian.
  • For MD/MS/DM/M.Ch students must have completed their MBBS degree from a recognized institute.
  • Students must have scored 55% in their MBBS exam.
  • Students must have completed their one-year internship, and students must have a permanent registration with MCI.
  • For MDS, BDS from a recognized university is important along with 12 months of internship.
  • INI-CET has replaced the AIIMS PG exam, the INI-CET is conducted by AIIMS Delhi on behalf of the 11 other institutes for all the courses.
  • The eligibility criteria are the same as AIIMS PG for INI-CET.

DATES FOR AIIMS

Here are some important dates:

  • For MBBS admission the NEET exam date is 5th May 2024.
  • For INI-CET 2024 session the exam date was 5th November 2023.
  • For the July session the exam date is 19th May 2024.

EXAM STRUCTURE FOR AIIMS

For the MBBS course the pattern is the same as the NEET exam.

  • The exam is based on online mode.
  • There are 200 multiple-choice questions to be answered.
  • For MDS courses there are 90 questions.
  • Each question carries 1 mark.
  • For each correct answer +1 mark is given.
  • For wrong answer ⅓ mark deducted.
  • For MD/MS students the syllabus will the the subjects taught in the MBBS course.
  • For MDS students the exam subjects will be the same ones taught in BDS.
  • For the MD/MS students the exam duration is 3 hours(180 minutes).
  • For MDS students the exam duration is 1.5 hours (90 minutes).

CUT-OFF FOR AIIMS

Following is the cut-off for AIIMS:

  • The cut-off for the general category students is 50 percentile.
  • Cut-off for sc/st/obc category students is 45 percentile.

APPLICATION PROCESS FOR AIIMS

Following is the application process for AIIMS:

  • To apply for the exam students must go to the official website of AIIMS.
  • After that students have to log in to their account.
  • After that students must fill in the important details asked by the website.
  • Using the code students have to fill out the form and give all the information like qualifications, address, their desired course, their category, along their desired cities for the exam center.
  • Students have to upload their passport copy photos with scanned signatures.
  • After that students have to pay the application fee online.
  • After that students have to check the form again before submitting it.
  • Students are advised to keep a printout of the application form for personal records.
  • Students must keep an eye on the website to get the important notification.
  • Admit cards are issued after a month of form submission.
  • The application process starts before a few months of the exam date, usually in November.
  • Students are advised to provide a valid phone number and email ID while filling out the form.
